🧐 Is construction a man’s job? 🏗️

📸 A look back at the roundtable discussion “Women on Construction Sites” held last Thursday in collaboration with BizLine at the GIGAMEDIA showroom in Paris, which was made available for the occasion as part of International Women’s Day.♀️

Themes covered included: gender diversity, inclusion, diversity, changing attitudes, and the role of women in the construction industry.

These are themes that are particularly close to our hearts and are an integral part of the DNA of GIGAMEDIA and the Rexel Group.🫶

On the agenda:

🗣️ Welcome address by Anne-Brisce Grasset
📢 Presentation of the WiRE (Women in Rexel) program
👷‍♀️ Contextualization and testimonials 👩
⁉️ Quiz and Q&A session
🏢 Tour of the BizLine and GIGAMEDIA offices

With lively discussions, lively debates, and enthusiastic speakers, this roundtable provided an opportunity for fascinating and passionate exchanges.💙

Present in 35 professions, at all levels of responsibility, women are playing a growing role in the construction industry.👷‍♀️

Some figures for 2024*:

  • 13.3% of women in the construction industry (compared to 8.6% in 2000)
  • including 45.6% among employees and technicians 😊
  • including 22.2% among managers 😲
  • including 2.7% among workers 😱

These figures are certainly increasing, but they still raise just as many questions and challenges, given the marked male predominance…🤔

Marked disparities, but changing mentalities: the lines are shifting, with as many challenges to overcome as opportunities to seize to shift the paradigm and open up more women in the construction industry.🙋‍♀️

Thank you to all the speakers and stakeholders for organizing this event, which focused on women’s rights. We are delighted to have been able to welcome you. 😊 The Gigamedia showroom is at your disposal!
